Hunting Regulations
In order to access the forms on the Saskatchewan's website, you will need the ADOBE ACROBAT READER, to view the downloaded files.
Once you on the site, select the current "Hunting and Trapping Guide" for download.
You also will find all pertinent info to provincial regulations, season dates, bag limits, and licenses on this website.
There is also a link for visitors to Canada regarding the Canadian Firearm Gun regulations as well as all relevant forms you may need as a visitor.
License Fees: **please note - to access an up to date license fees for Non-Resident Hunters go to Saskatchewan's Environment website.**
Gun Registration:
All Non-Residents who are bringing their own firearms into Canada must either:
1. pre-register in advance (best option)
2. register them when clearing customs
Option 1
You can pre-register with a credit card over the phone line, have your firearm serial numbers and credit card numbers ready when you phone.
The phone number for Saskatoon Customs is (306) 975-4755 ext. 2. With a pre-registration, clearing customs is much easier.
We strongly encourage you to do so.
Option 2
All non-residents who are bringing their own firearms into Canada must register them.
A Non Resident Firearms Declaration, form CACF 909 and the continuation form CACF 910 (click on each link to download directly), must be completed. Please call (800) 731-4000 from USA, or (506) 524-5380 from elsewhere for more detailed info.
Further information can be found at the Canadian Firearm Centre website.
All forms must be filled out in triplicate before you arrive at the border.
DO NOT SIGN SECTION C UNTIL YOU ARE IN FRONT OF THE CUSOMS OFFICER.
The fee should be around $ 38 USD
Driving While Impaired (DWI), Convictions:
US clients are experiencing increased difficulty crossing the Canada/US border if they had a "DWI" conviction. The number of people turned back at the border has increased last year substantially. Although the Saskatchewan Outfitters Association does not get involved in specific situations with "Outfitter Clients", the association has been active in addressing the problem on behalf of the industry.
The present policy in Canada does give the individual Immigration Officer a lot of discretion in whom they admin and under what circumstances.
Please call (306) 927-2335 for more information, or obtain the brochure titled "Criminal Entry into Canada" from Canada Customs.
